2007 CHRISTMAS CHARITY BREAKFAST CRUISE

The Golden Coral breakfast really opened our eyes this morning, as the amount of delicious looking food that was available to all, had everyone wondering just how big of appetite they had. It certainly reminded us all of the blessings we all have, as we prepared to take our Christmas Charity Cruise to Paul's Pantry with our many food donations.

Unloading the "Christmas Bugs" at Paul's Pantry in Green Bay!

Why is everyone smiling? Because we all know that our food donations will be used soon by some needy person in the Green Bay area!!!!!

Summary of 2007 Fall Cruise

In 2006, our Fall Cruise was a little late for the colors, and wouldn't you know it, in 2007 our Fall Cruise was a little early for the colors. Guess you can't predict "Old Man Weather". Needless to say, we all had a great time!
We started out with six "bugs", picked up a stray and unknown "bug" for quite a few miles in Door County, (a grey convertible) and met at Applebee's in Sturgeon Bay for dinner, where another "bug member" joined us. The Mystery Spot turned out to be Ellison Bay Bluff County Park, where the view was awesome and Lisa won the Applebee's gift certificate with her guess of 89.5 miles. Would you believe that second place, Erica, guessed 90.0 miles. The actual distance was 89.4 miles! How close can you be??????

Posted below are pictures from the cruise. However, there are more pictures available than what is posted, so if any one would like to see all of them, just let us know and we will email them to you.

CRUISING! JOIN THIS YEARS FALL COLORS CRUISE

2007 Annual Fall Colors Cruise and Mystery Spot Contest

Our annual Fall Colors Cruise to the Northwoods is now set, along with a contest to make it even more fun than last years. Here's the details:

When: Saturday, September 29, 2007

Time: 9:00 a.m. (arrive between 8:45 - 9:00 a.m.)

Location: Lambeau Field Parking Lot (near the Atrium Entrance)

The Cruise: We will cruise/caravan to a Door County Mystery Spot

Schedule of the cruise.............We will leave Lambeau Field at 9:00 a.m. and cruise/caravan to a
Mystery Spot destination (**See contest below) in Door County, enjoying the
fall colors along the way. Once we get to the Mystery Spot, be prepared with your
camera and maybe binoculars, as you will see an absolutely fantastic sight before
your own eyes. After spending some time at the Mystery Spot, everyone will
have some time of their own to enjoy Door County. See more fall colors, shop the
many shops, check out the parks, take a tour, play some miniature golf, rent a
bike, etc. Then at 4:00 p.m., we will all meet again at Applebee's in Sturgeon
Bay for a bite to eat, and then caravan our "bugs" back to Green Bay. All in all,
it should be a fun filled day. We need a good turn out, so mark it on your calendar
and plan on being a part of it, and don't forget to enter the Mystery Spot Contest.

MYSTERY SPOT CONTEST RULES

Win a gift certificate to Applebee's........1. Identify the Door County Mystery Spot after reading
the 5 clues that will help you determine it's location.
(clues are found below!)

2. Determine the exact miles from Lambeau Field to the
Mystery Spot. *(This will be used as a tie breaker in case
several people identify the Mystery Spot correctly.)

3. Submit your guess before September 29 for both of the
above by email to: rglaeser@new.rr.com, or in person
the morning of Sept. 29 in the Lambeau Field Parking Lot.

4. **WINNER MUST TAKE PART IN THE CRUISE, AS
THE APPLEBEE GIFT CERTIFICATE WILL BE
AWARDED AT THE MYSTERY SPOT.

Mystery Spot Contest Clues

Clue #1..........Just north of Sturgeon Bay is a "Y" in the road. Highway 57 goes to the right, and
Highway 42 goes to the left. Decide which one you are going to take. Hmmm! Eeenie,
Meeeenie, Miiiiine, Moe!
Clue #2..........The Mystery Spot is named after a famous Door County village. Yes, we know, Door
County is full of famous villages!!!!!!!!
Clue #3..........Taking in the breathtaking view at the Mystery Spot will not cost you a penny. That's
right! There's no admission charge! However, you might want to buy some air sickness
medication!
Clue #4..........When we pass through a 150 year old Norwegian settlement/village, which at one time
was actually two separate villages, we will be getting very close to the Mystery Spot.
Clue #5..........No need to wash your car before the cruise, because about 1/4 mile will be on unpaved
road. And yes, we will go slow so your little "bug" will not get any chips!!!!!

NOTE: So that we can communicate while we are cruising in the caravan, if you have two way radios
(Walkie Talkie's), please bring them along.

HOPE TO SEE YOU ALL AT LAMBEAU FIELD ON THE 29TH OF SEPTEMBER FOR ALL THE FUN!

Summary of the Route 66 Caravan to Roswell, NM

(OUR NEWNBC/WICONSIN CLAN, LISA HERR AND US! YOU CAN TELL BY OUR EXPRESSIONS THAT WE MUST BE HAVING FUN OR WE WERE YELLING AT THE PHOTOGRAPHER BECAUSE HE TOOK THE PICTURE AT THE WRONG TIME)
We have returned from the largest New Beetle weekend and show in the U.S., and it was great!!!!!!!!!!!!! This was our second trip to Roswell to attend this event, and this one was even more exciting than last year's. What really made this one great was the Route 66 Caravan that we all took to get to Roswell. The organizers, Earl McCutcheon from California, and Jerry O'Hara from Ohio, did a fantastic job. Our caravan consisted of up to 19 New Beetles, and sometimes stretched out up to a mile from front to back. What a site and boy did we get the waves, stares, gestures, etc. States represented in the caravan were California, Colorado, Wisconsin, Illinois, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Maryland, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Texas, and some states I probably missed, along with Canada. Although parts of the historic Route 66 are no longer in use, and at times the interstate was used, we were able to see some very historic places along the way. Some of them were.......The Cozy Dog Restaurant in Springfield, Illinois; the mile long old bridge crossing the Mississippi River in St. Louis which is now used as a biking and walking trail; Ted Drews Ice Cream Parlor in downtown St. Louis (the banana splits were awesome!); Meramec Caverns in Missouri; the Devil's Elbow bridge and the Elbow Inn where we had a great lunch and everyone was always looking up at the ceiling. (You will need to ask one of us as to why we did this?); several old markets and gift shops in Kansas and Oklahoma; the Rock Cafe in Stroud, Oklahoma and it's owner "Dawn" who was the character "Sally" in the recent hit movie, "CARS"; the Route 66 Museum in Clinton, Oklahoma; the "Blue Whale" which was a famous Route 66 swimming hole in Oklahoma; the "Bug Ranch" just outside of Amarillo, Texas, where VW Bugs are buried face down into the ground and people sign their greetings on the bugs; the "BIG TEXAN" in Amarillo, where you can get a 72 oz. steak for FREE if you can eat it all within one hour. (No, none of us tried it!) This restaurant is so huge, that they even have 3 limos that will drive people to it from surrounding motels; and the Mid-Point Cafe in Adrian, Texas, which is the exact mid-point of Route 66. It is 1139 miles to Chicago and 1139 miles to Los Angeles. They are famous for their pies, and the chocolate chip was so awesome, that we even took a picture of it. We had to leave Route 66 at Amarillo in order to get to Roswell, but about half the group continued on 66 after Roswell all the way to California. What a great experience! Caravaning is just as fun as the Roswell show itself. Hope some of you can make it next year!
